If you’ve kept up even marginally with the cosmetic enhancement industry in recent years, you’ve probably heard of the Vampire Facial®. Celebrities have touted its virtues from medical spa beds far and wide for one reason: the Vampire Facial® works. Your skin gets the boost it needs most from the best possible place, your own body—with a little help from Best Self Medical Arts.

How Does a Vampire Facial® Work?

The Vampire Facial®’s beauty is in how it reboots your skin, all with your own platelet-rich plasma (PRP). The skin cells renewed by the Vampire Facial® don’t just look younger; they are younger. First, Dr. Cheryl Greer extracts blood just like you would give for a normal blood test. It’s spun in a lab-grade centrifuge to separate the components. The PRP is collected (and the rest is properly disposed of), ready for use.

Next, Dr. Greer creates controlled punctures in your skin to a precise depth with a microneedling tool. These micro-injuries channel the PRP, which is painted on, to infuse beneath the epidermis. The true magic of the Vampire Facial® begins. Your PRP’s natural growth factors stimulate healing and renewal while attracting the body’s stem cell response. Those stem cells rush to the treatment area to become the tissues most needed—collagen and elastin fibers or new skin cells. Your skin isn’t just remodeled. It’s completely remade. The PRP is left on as long as possible for maximum infusion.

Am I a Good Candidate?

Most anyone is a good candidate for a Vampire Facial® with Best Self Medical Arts, especially because the PRP used is the patient’s own, so there’s extremely low risk involved. If you’ve suffered problems with your complexion, texture or tone, scar tissue, or the signs of aging are creeping ever deeper, a Vampire Facial® may be right for you. It’s best to wait until any active infections have fully cleared before your treatment.

What is a Vampire Facial® Like?

Your Vampire Facial® begins with the application of topical anesthetic cream for maximum comfort. Your PRP is extracted and prepared, and then the microneedling treatment begins. Dr. Greer moves the microneedling device over your skin to create the micro-channels, and the PRP is painted on to begin soaking through to your epidermis. The entire process is minimally invasive and relaxing. You’ll be sent home with the PRP still on your face, to be rinsed away after 12-24 hours.

In a few short days, your skin becomes radiant. Dull, damaged skin cells are replaced with new cells, and the fibrin and platelets in the PRP create the scaffolding around which new collagen and elastin grows. Your skin becomes tighter and firmer, and with new skin cells, you’ll begin to look younger than ever. Lines and wrinkles are filled in and gradually fade, color is improved, and your tone and texture are smoothed for a touchably soft complexion. You don’t need many treatments; just 2-3 scheduled 4-6 weeks apart are enough to achieve most cosmetic goals.

Is There Any Downtime with a Vampire Facial®?

Because the PRP must remain on your face for 12-24 hours for maximum absorption, you won’t be able to return to your normal routine right away. You may notice some redness, skin tightness, and some mild bruising, but this resolves quickly. Refrain from wearing makeup for a few days to aid in healing. After the PRP is rinsed off, you may resume your regular schedule. Many patients who have a Vampire Facial® continue social downtime for a few days.

Dr. Geer is the best doctor! I drive more than an hour to see her and it is worth it! Having her as a doctor has been live changing. She treats the whole person and sends the time to get real understanding before making suggestions. She treats my mom and sister too and I would recommend her to anyone.
